Hujjat-ul-Islam Mohammd Hussein Mokhtari, president of Iran’s University of Islamic Denominations (UID) met with Hajj Mohammad Yahya Anwari, president of Afghanistan’s Mawlana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi Private University to sign agreement for academic cooperation stressing education as the efficient strategy to counter extremism and terrorism, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
Iranian cleric in this meeting highlighted proximity as the strategy which should be followed and called Islamic Denomination University a hub for proximity activities inclusive to students and professors from all Islamic denominations.
He called the University of Islamic Denominations a practical role model for proximity among different Islamic schools of thought.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Mokhtari lauded graduates from University of Islamic Denominations as flag bearers of proximity referring to Afghan graduates from the Iranian academy teaching at universities across the country.
He counted common grounds, language, history, culture and religion shared between Iran and Afghanistan as grounds for developing cooperation between both countries and vowed to provide all Muslim states with experiences achieved in three decades of confrontation with Takfir and extremism.
Iran’s university of Islamic Denominations and Mawlana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi Private University signed agreement for joint educational and research activities and as well as student exchange programs.
