Hamidullah Farooqi, chancellor of Kabul University, met with Iranian delegation from the University of Islamic Denominations led by Hujjat-ul-Islam Mohammad Hussein Mokhtari called the Iranian academy as a great achievement of Islamic Republic of Iran and a proper example for educational system in Afghanistan, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
Advisor minister to the president in this meeting referred to proximity activities by Afghan clerics expressing regret that the country does not have a university specially working on Islamic proximity inclusive of all Islamic denominations.
He called the University of Islamic Denominations as a perfect role model for the University of Kabul.
“We are challenged by extremism in our country whose only solution is proximity and comparative methods” said Hamidullah Farooqi praising Iran’s example for Afghan universities.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Mokhtari highlighted “enlightenment of the younger generation” against Takfiri thoughts as the mission of universities and noted,” University of Islamic Denominations is proud to have trained ambassadors of Islamic proximity from across the globe.”
He said,” University of Islamic Denominations is proud of its achievements in educating ambassadors of proximity across the globe” and lauded Afghan graduates at the Iranian academy.
Dean of the faculty of Sharia, law and educational deputy of the University of Kabul as well as Iran’s cultural attaché in Afghanistan and manager of international bureau at the University of Islamic Denominations also attended the meeting.
More than 35’000 students are studying at the University of Kabul, the biggest and oldest state institute for higher education in Afghanistan.
